During this stage, the goal is to avoid future mould or corrosion damage to the property by removing any standing water and thoroughly drying it out. Personal belongings will be removed from the interior of the structure during this process. In other cases, damaged drywall, flooring, and other materials will be removed all the way down to the studs. Water extraction crews will use commercial equipment to dry out the structure once it has been flooded. During this stage, roof tarps will be maintained to prevent further water intrusion into the structure.
