Our journey began when Thomas and Jessica Bender, unable to find an overland van that aligned with their lifestyle, decided to take matters into their own hands. Drawing upon their diverse expertise in engineering, product design, materials, upholstery, and cabinet design, they embarked on creating their ideal vehicle. Working in Gary Bender's (Tom's father) driveway, they crafted their vision into reality. Before long, their custom builds gained attention, attracting clients who shared their same passion.
Recognizing the growing demand for their unique creations, Thomas and Jessica made the pivotal decision to establish ACME Overland as a full-time venture. But they couldn’t keep building in a driveway…

Expedition Trucks: 9-18 months. The time from initial contact to pickup day can vary greatly depending on where your truck is purchased and the amount of work needed before it comes to us.

Jessica and Tom Bender were having great success with their local weekend adventure getaways, but when it came to longer-term excursions, they were feeling restricted by inclement weather, unappealing highway hotels, and an expanding family that included their puppy Malamute, Echo.
They were on the hunt for an adventure vehicle that could accommodate their sleeping and storage needs in summer or winter, for work or play—and a converted cargo van was the solution. But the options on the market were either scrapped-together DIYs or flashy, high-end Sprinters.
After an unfulfilling search for the ultimate Goldilocks vehicle, Jessica and Tom decided the solution was clear: they would harness their combined experience in refined engineering, product design, building material and upholstery, and cabinet design, and they would create their own.
